Competition Class Type
UKCHO Class Types
Basic Class
Suitable stage:Suitable for students in grades 9-10 who have completed junior high school chemistry courses in China, have a certain interest and foundation in chemistry, and want to be exposed to the knowledge system of international chemistry competitions in advance. Students at this stage mainly build a preliminary knowledge framework for chemistry competitions to prepare for subsequent in-depth learning.
Length of class:Each class lasts 60 minutes and there are 2-3 classes per week.
Course Content:Review and expansion of basic chemical concepts, principles of simple chemical reactions, introduction to basic organic chemistry
Intensive Course
Suitable stage:This program is designed for students in grades 10-11 who have a certain reserve of basic knowledge for chemistry competitions, such as being familiar with basic chemical concepts, chemical reaction equations, etc., and who have performed well in school chemistry courses and want to further improve their problem-solving ability and knowledge depth in UKCHO competitions.
Length of class:Each class is 90 minutes long and there are 2 classes per week.
Course content:
Strengthening the core knowledge of physical chemistry: in-depth study of chemical kinetics (rate equation, reaction order, etc.) and chemical thermodynamics (enthalpy change, entropy change, Gibbs free energy, etc.)
Advanced Organic Chemistry: In-depth study of various organic reaction mechanisms, such as nucleophilic substitution reactions, detailed mechanisms of electrophilic addition reactions, and stereochemistry of organic compounds, including chiral molecules, enantiomers, etc.
Inorganic chemistry topic expansion: transition metal chemistry, including the electronic configuration of transition metals, the formation and properties of complexes, and some important inorganic material chemistry knowledge.
Sprint class:
Suitable stage:This course is for students in grades 11-12 who are about to participate in the UKCHO competition and have systematically learned most of the competition knowledge content, but still need to improve their competition results through a large number of real test exercises, overcoming difficult knowledge points and answering skills training.
Length of class:Each class lasts 120 minutes, and there are 3 classes per week.
Course content:Real exam simulation and analysis: We select UKCHO real exam questions from the past 5-10 years for full-length simulation exams, and then analyze in detail the solution ideas, knowledge points involved, and areas where students are prone to make mistakes for each real exam, to help students become familiar with the competition question types and question setting styles.
Competition answering skills training: including how to quickly interpret question information, reasonably allocate answering time, write standard answering steps and other skills training. For example, when solving calculation problems, how to clearly list known quantities, unknown quantities and calculation formulas, and how to organize language to express opinions in an orderly manner when answering discussion questions.
Hot topics and cutting-edge research expansion: Introduce some of the latest research hotspots and cutting-edge achievements in the field of chemistry, such as the development of new catalysts, green chemical processes, etc. Although these contents may not appear directly in the competition questions, they can broaden students' chemical horizons, cultivate students' scientific thinking and innovation capabilities, and sometimes provide students with some novel ideas and perspectives when answering questions.
