The ranking of the best universities in the United States for 2025 was released, with Princeton University, MIT, and Harvard University ranked in the top three of the best national universities
US News & World Report, the global authority on education rankings, announced its 2025 Best Colleges on September 24. As a guide for future students and their families, the national rankings evaluate nearly 1,500 colleges and universities using up to 17 academic quality indicators. This year's edition continues to prioritize social mobility and graduate student success.
The Best Colleges 2025 methodology is calculated using up to 17 key indicators of academic quality for national universities and 13 indicators for national liberal arts colleges, regional universities and regional colleges. The formula uses data commonly reported by schools or obtained from third-party sources. Schools' eligibility for the ranking is not dependent on participation in the U.S. News survey.
